A new international freight forwarding training short course has received strong support from supply chain companies working in the overdimensional project cargo sector.
The two-day course was held in January in Mumbai and attracted 12 attendees while the second course in Bremen, Germany, from October 28-29 has 25 registrations.
A third course is planned for Brisbane early next year. The two-day course is specifically tailored to fast tracking the skills of participants and has been designed by Australian based international 3PL network, the Project Professionals Group (PPG).
PPG General Manager Kevin Stephens has his head office in Brisbane, and said the Certificate of Achievement in Project Cargo Management course was open to all companies associated with supply chain management and logistics.
“The course has been developed at the request of freight forwarding professionals following concerns about the critical international skills shortage in the supply chain and logistics industry,” Stephens says.
“The course includes case studies concerning successful project cargos along with tricks of the trade and tactics that supported competitive advantages and winning new business.”
“The fast flow of information that the industry faced was also addressed through skills that improved business communication.”
Stephens says the first course in Mumbai in January received excellent feedback from the 12 graduates. He says companies supporting the training recognise that their most valuable resource is their staff who will benefit from professional development as part of their career paths.
He says the training represents a very worthwhile investment of $US1500 per person, and targets businesses and organisations who wantd to add value through skills training that otherwise could take many years to acquire.
Program topics cover key areas and are broken up into eight easy-absorbed modules that focus on practical training in industry best-practice that can be effectively applied in the workplace from day one.
Principal instructor Kevin Stephens has over 30 years of international industry experience that provides a wealth of knowledge covering all aspects of the supply chain, particularly project forwarding, ship-broking, chartering and contract management activities.
Business communication consultant Rodger Hall has taught university students and managers essential business communication skills that help persuade, promote, instruct and explain.
