VISA Global Logistics launches intermodal facility

Visa Global Logistics, has officially opened its Erskine Park intermodal facility in Sydney’s west.

The event was attended by over 200 guests including  Mayor of Penrith City Council. “This area is facing unprecedented growth with an investment of $2.9 billion over ten years in major infrastructure upgrades and the construction of the new airport in Badgery’s Creek. These developments will transform the region’s economy. VISA has picked the best location for its new facility,” the Mayor said.

VISA Global Logistics’ head office and first intermodal facility in NSW is in Banksmeadow, a stone throw away from Port Botany. The company collects containers from the port and cargo from Sydney airport and brings them to their facility for customs clearance, storage, delivery and distribution.

The company is Australia’s third largest collector of containers from the port and the logistics partner of brands such as Coca Cola Amatil, Steinhoff, Wrigley, Vittoria Food & Beverage, MARS, SONY, Fantastic Furniture, Barilla, SMEG, Brother and Beaumont Tiles. A growing business and Australia’s largest privately owned global logistics company, VISA Global Logistics’ fleet has a significant presence on Sydney roads as well as nationwide.

Scott Walker, National Transport Manager at VISA Global Logistics, explained the company’s strategy in choosing Erskine Park as its second location in NSW.

“Our original operations involved short trips between Port Botany and our Banksmeadow facility but varied distances for deliveries to our customers. Our new intermodal facility in Erskine Park enables us to collect and run large volumes of containers from Port Botany to Erskine Park at night, outside of Sydney peak hour traffic. During the day, we facilitate deliveries to our customers in Western Sydney from our Erskine Park facility. Since these deliveries are outside the bounds of Sydney’s congestion hot spots, our trucks based in Erskine Park can complete several deliveries in a day.” Scott Walker said.

The new 40,000 square-metre facility has an annual throughput of 120,000 TEUs, a 2,000 TEU hardstand container yard and 6,000 pallet spaces. Finally finding a way to beat Sydney’s congestion, VISA’s customers in Sydney’s West now enjoys exceptional on-time deliveries.
